PUEBLO, COLO. (AP) -- Authorities in southern Colorado say a teenager suspected in the killing of a 50-year-old man has been arrested in suburban Chicago.
The Pueblo Chieftain reports that the 17-year-old boy was arrested at a hotel in Woodridge on Sunday. Capt. Jeff Teschner of the Pueblo County sheriff's office said he was arrested without incident.
Authorities say the teen was visiting family in the Chicago aree for the holidays. They didn't release his name because he's a minor and hasn't been charged as an adult. Pueblo authorities contacted law enforcement in Illinois after learning he had family in the area.
The teen is suspected in the fatal shooting of 50-year-old Michael Hopkins of Pueblo West June 21.
The Pueblo County Sheriff's Office found Hopkins unconscious in the 1800 block of Spanish Lady Lane around 4:30 a.m. that day. There were no signs of forced entry into the home.
Detectives announced Friday that they had issued arrest warrants for the first suspect in the slaying. His extradition hearing is Monday in the Chicago area.
