The Charles Dickens classic A Christmas Carol is being told from a different perspective -- that of an American cowboy -- in THEATREWORKS's latest production, A Cowboy Christmas Carol.

Renowned cowboy poet Waddie Mitchell plays the lead character of "Ebenezer Scrooge" and said, in real life, he had become a bit of a "scrooge" himself -- tired of the commercialization of the holiday, fed up with the stress of Christmas, etc.

But he said this performance has changed him by warming his spirit -- and he hopes that others will resdiscover the true message of Dickens's original tale.

A Cowboy Christmas Carol runs through Friday, Dec. 24 at THEATREWORKS, located in the Dusty Loo Bon Vivant Theatre in University Hall at UCCS.
Tickets are $30 for adults and $15 for kids under the age of 16. For more information about the show or to purchase tickets, visit the THEATREWORKS website by clicking here or call (719) 255-3232.
