FORT CARSON, COLO. (AP) -- More Fort Carson soldiers are training to deploy to Afghanistan in the late spring or early summer of next year.

Spokesman Maj. Kevin Toner said Wednesday the soldiers from the 2nd Brigade Combat Team, 4th Infantry Division are currently training on post. IN February, they'll go to Fort Polk, La., for exercises.

Their training includes negotiating skills, Afghan customs and the infrastructure workings of small communities.

A brigade has about 3,800 soldiers. Fort Carson's 1st Brigade is already in Afghanistan. Fort Carson's headquarters unit and the 3rd Brigade are in Iraq.

The 2nd is a heavy brigade that uses tracked vehicles such as tanks, but for this deployment, it's reorganizing as a light brigade using Humvees and other wheeled vehicles.
