FORT CARSON, COLO. (AP) -- The Trees for Troops program is providing free Christmas trees to families of Fort Carson soldiers.

About 600 farm-grown trees will be distributed starting on Wednesday at the post.

Fort Carson spokeswoman Brandy Gill says the trees are provided by FedEx and the Colorado Christmas Spirit Foundation.

Nationwide, Trees for Troops has delivered more than 50,000 trees since 2005 to 50 U.S. military bases, to units in Iraq and Afghanistan and to the Navy's 5th Fleet.
