DENVER (AP) -- Comcast Corp. is raising prices for some of its cable-television and Internet services in Colorado.

The Denver Post reports that starting Jan. 1, Comcast plans to raise rates by an average of 4.6 percent. That means some packages would cost about $2 to $3 more per month. Subscribers locked into promotional packages wouldn't be affected until their discounted pricing periods end.

Other prices are falling. For instance, the monthly rate on a Digital Economy TV package would fall from $39.95 to $29.95.

Comcast says the increases come as it invests in new technology and pays higher licensing fees to programmers to carry their content.

Satellite-TV providers DirecTV and Dish Network have also raised some rates this year.
