COLORADO SPRINGS, COLO. -- An animal forced a power outage east of downtown Colorado Springs Thursday morning when it got into equipment near the Evergreen substation.

The outage near Pikes Peak Avenue and Union Boulevard affected about 800 customers.

According to Colorado Springs Utilities, the animal got into equipment, causing the circuits to fail.

The El Paso County Health Department was among those without power and requested no visitors.

The outage also affected traffic signals in the area. Power is now restored.
