GREELEY -- A Greeley officer risked his life to save a young boy from freezing water today.
Trooper Dan Haley was out with his family when he saw children playing on thin ice.
Ten year old Brenndan Daviet broke through the ice, submerging himself in the near freezing water.
When Haley ran to help the boy, he broke through the ice as well.
He was able to swim to the child, pushing him onto the ice, and having to swim to the shore when he couldn't pull himself out of the water.
Both were taken to the Northern Colorado Medical Center and released after being treated for hypothermia.
Haley is a 3 year veteran of the Colorado State Patrol.
