COLORADO SPRINGS, COLO. -- A Fort Carson soldier is in the hospital Tuesday recovering from gunshot wounds he received in an attempted robbery Monday night.

Just before 10 p.m. calls came in of shots fired at the Cobblestone Ridge Apartments near S. Nevada and Academy Boulevard. Officers arrived to find a 25-year-old man with gunshot wounds to the torso and leg.

He was taken to the hospital, underwent surgery and is said to be in stable condition.

Investigators said two suspects attempted to rob the victim, and when he fought back, they opened fire.

Those suspects were seen running from the area and possibly jumped into a light-colored, older model American sedan.

Police describe the suspects as men in their 20s. One wore all red clothing, and the other wore all black clothing.

They said two more suspects may have been waiting in the car.

So far police have not made any arrests.
