DENVER (AP) -- A wildfire that forced the evacuation of more than 1,700 people in Boulder and the foothills west of the city is 90 percent contained.

The 50 firefighters working on the 84-acre fire Monday were expected to fully contain the blaze by evening.

The fire, which started Friday, originally was estimated at 144 acres when two blazes grew into one. Fire officials reduced the estimated size based on better mapping.

Some of the people who left their homes Friday were among those who had to flee a much larger wildfire in September. That fire burned nearly 10 square miles and destroyed 169 homes.

Authorities believe the new fire was human caused because it started in a city open space
