PUEBLO, COLO. -- Pueblo Fire Department officials extinguished a house fire in the 2800 block of E. 15th Street.
The fire broke out just before 7 a.m. in a dryer in the house. It spread throughout part of the house but did not injure anybody. Fire officials said there was significant structure damage, estimated at $50,000.
The fire spread into other parts of the housedue to a lack of sheetrock on the walls and destroyed several floor joists in the kitchen.
Fire detectors had been disabled, but all six members of the home escaped uninjured.
Fire officials said the cause is likely combustables too close to the water heater in the laundry room.
This is the third structure fire caused by items next to a water heater.
