COLORADO SPRINGS, COLO. -- Update:

Colorado Springs police said a man sexually assaulted a 3-year-old girl, and now they are asking for your help.

Police said 22-year-old Wilson Chilel-Lopez sexually assaulted the girl Monday at an apartment complex near Chapel Hills Mall.

Now police are worried Lopez may have been preying on the children at the complex for a while.

Police wont release a lot of details about the case, but they hope more victims come forward so they can add them to the charges against Lopez.

"We do have reason to believe he could have other victims out there," Colorado Springs Police Sgt. Steve Noblitt said.

Police said he was staying with the family of his victim but is not related to them.

“Its a situation where you have trusting people that allow someone to stay with them," Noblitt said.

The complex is seemingly full of kids, with toys and children's bikes on nearly every balcony. And detectives with the Crimes Against Children Unit think Lopez may have abused more kids.

"Apparently he is known in the apartment complex and has stayed in other apartments and possibly even watched other people's children," Noblitt said.

Experts said most sexual assaults are committed by someone close to the victim, and the typical sex offender molests an average of 117 kids, most of whom never report it.

That's why police think there are more victims and why they said it's so important for those victims to come forward.

"It's a cautionary tale for all people to be aware of who you invite into your home and watch your children at all times," Noblitt said.

Lopez is in the El Paso County Jail, charged with sexual assault on a child.

He is being held on $10,000 bond.

He also has an immigration hold.

Police arrested 22-year-old Wilson Chilel-Lopez Monday after learning Lopez had sexually assaulted a 3-year-old girl he was living with.

Police said the girl and Lopez are not related but are both living in the same apartment in the 8000 block of Jamboree Circle. Lopez was booked on the charge of sexual assault on a child.

The Crimes Against Children Unit is concerned there may be additional victims and asks anyone with more information to contact police at 444-7000.
