Police investigate an assault on Knotwood Drive

COLORADO SPRINGS, COLO. -- Colorado Springs Police are asking for the public's help in connection with an assault on the city's southeast side.
According to police, 53-year-old David Chess was found unconscious and bleeding from a head trauma around 3 a.m. Sunday.
He was found on the curb in the 3300 block of Knotwood Drive and taken to the hospital for surgery.
Police said Chess lived in the area, and the department's homicide/assault team is handling the investigation.
They're looking for a green mini-van or Honda Pilot-style vehicle with dark tinted windows and possibly Colorado plates in connection with this incident. The vehicle's occupants are described as black males in their late teens or early 20s.
