ESTES PARK, Colo. (AP) — A 54-year-old Colorado climber was killed in a fall that left his two companions stranded in Rocky Mountain National Park.

Park officials say the three were climbing a glacier near Taylor and Powell peaks shortly before noon on Saturday when one of them fell and tumbled 350 feet to his death.

The victim carried the rope used by all three, which left the other two stuck on the mountainside. They called for help with a cell phone.

Rangers reached the two with ropes after about four hours and the climbers made it out safely.

The park service says two other rangers stayed with the victim's body until it could be recovered safely, probably Sunday. His name wasn't released.
