COLORADO SPRINGS, COLO. -- Two people have been arrested in connection with a drive-by shooting at a Colorado Springs Walmart.
Springs police have arrested 19-year-old Frank Miller, a Fort Carson soldier, for the murder of 26-year-old Christopher Harmon.
Seventeen-year-old Jordan Ellis of Colorado Springs has also been arrested. Both men are facing first-degree murder charges.
Harmon was shot and killed at the Walmart in the 3200 block of E. Platte Avenue. It happened just after midnight on Sept. 26.
The suspect vehicle, a black Dodge Charger with tinted windows and chrome wheels, has been found and impounded.
"With the assistance of Fort Carson authorities, and as a result of the hard work of the detectives involved in this case, police arrested Miller on Oct. 4," CSPD Sgt. Steve Noblitt said.
Ellis was arrested the next day.
"Now that arrests have been made the case will be handed to the DA's office, and the preliminary work for the prosecution will begin," Noblitt said.
Springs police have had to deal with a number of violent crimes in the past few weeks.
"I'm exceptionally proud of the effort of all our violent crime investigators and the extensive support team we've put together literally from every corner of the department, as well as investigators from the DA's office," CSPD Chief Richard Myers said. "Normally a homicide team might roll out on an incident and then have weeks or months before they have to respond to another similar incident. We've had four distinct incidents that we're treating like homicides in the last week to 10 days. It's literally pushed our resources to the extreme."
