It's time to celebrate the fall harvest at the 16th Annual Chile & Frijoles Festival in downtown Pueblo.
Rod Slyhoff from the Pueblo Chamber of Commerce stopped by FOX21 Morning News and said it's not all about the peppers and beans -- there's other produce that will be showcased this weekend, as well as live music, other entertainment and displays.
It kicks off with the traditional Farmer's Market on Friday (that runs all weekend) and is highlighted with other fun events:
- Chili and salsa showdown -- a food competition between commercial and non-commercial for chili, green chili and salsa
- Jalapeno eating contest - whoever eats the most peppers in 10 minutes walks away with $100
- 5K run / 2-mile fun walk - there's even a "kiddie K" along the Riverwalk Sunday morning.
The cost is $2 per person; under the age of 12 is free.
There's a parking shuttle (with free parking) at Midtown Shopping Center, 1000 W. 6th Street (that's across the street from the offices of The Pueblo Chieftain)
