Main broke Wednesday afternoon on Garden of the Gods Road
COLORADO SPRINGS, COLO. -- A significant water main break Wednesday afternoon in the 700 block of Garden of the Gods Road between Elkton and Forge Roads closed westbound traffic and damaged part of the road, according to Colorado Springs Fire Department officials.
An eight inch cast iron pipe broke, impacting only a dance studio so far.
The break happened just after 1:30 p.m. Wednesday.
Officials said the road is buckling and water is coming through the asphalt. Colorado Springs Utilities were called. Nobody was injured, but police and traffic control have diverted one lane of westbound traffic into the eastbound lanes.
Westbound lanes will remain closed through most of the day Thursday.
