LOVELAND, COLO. (AP) -- Firefighters are bracing for more windy, warm and dry weather as they work to contain a wildfire in the foothills west of Loveland.

Fire managers say despite the challenging conditions, they're optimistic because of all the resources available. Crews have dug containment lines around about 35 percent of the blaze. Better mapping showed the fire is 710 acres rather than the previous estimate of nearly 1,000 acres.

The northern Colorado fire has prompted the evacuation of a four-mile radius. About 100 residents were allowed briefly into the evacuation area Tuesday to check on their homes, escorted by sheriff's deputies.

Sheriff's investigators say the blaze was started by two people burning leaves. Prosecutors will consider whether to pursue criminal charges.
