COLORADO SPRINGS, COLO. -- Some preventative measures are being taken to avoid a destructive wildfire near Colorado Springs.

Colorado Springs Utilities (CSU) plans to set fire to 115 acres on the north slope of Pikes Peak to thin the forest.

The utility is concerned about the damage to the city's watershed if an uncontrolled fire starts in the area.

The Colorado State Forest Service will carry out the project, set for Oct.
