EL PASO COUNTY, COLO. -- A traffic accident in Eastern El Paso County leaves one man dead and another facing charges.
The two-vehicle crash happened around 8:30 Thursday night at the intersection of Meridian Road and Tourmaline Drive.
The Colorado State Patrol says a Ford Mustang was attempting an illegal left turn onto southbound Meridian Road as a motorcycle rider approached the intersection.
Troopers say the motorcycle rolled as it attempted to avoid the Mustang, colliding with the car and catching fire.
The motorcycle rider -- 47-year-old Kenneth Dodgen of Colorado Springs -- was pronounced dead at the scene.
The driver of the car -- 23-year-old Paul Schmitt also of Colorado Springs -- was not injured and was cited with one count of Careless Driving Resulting in Death.
The crash remains under investigation..
Trooper say speed and alcohol are not believed to be factors.
