COLORADO SPRINGS, COLO. -- A local pizzeria closed Monday evening after a fire damaged part of it.
The fire started around 6 p.m. at Boriello Brothers Pizza located in the 4700 block of Barnes Road near Oro Blanco Drive.
The Colorado Springs Fire Department said when they arrived on scene a large amount of smoke was coming from inside the restaurant. They said everyone had already been evacuated.
Officials believe the fire started in the kitchen and spread to the attic through a vent.
"Especially since it was in the attic area, you are going to have a lot more damage that you are not going to be able to see from the outside, so this occupancy will be down for quite a while until they get some repair work done on it," Lt. Jeff Sievers of the Colorado Springs Fire Department said.
The Fire Department estimates damage at $290,000 and said the cause of the fire was accidental.
