Fort Carson soldier dies in Afghanistan

FORT CARSON, COLO. -- The Department of Defense announced Tuesday 20-year-old Spc. Pedro A. Millet Meletiche, who was part of the 4th Infantry Division at Fort Carson, died in Afghanistan Sunday. 

Millet Meletiche was assigned to the 1st Battalion, 66th Armor Regiment, 1st Brigade Combat Team and was supporting Operation Enduring Freedom. He died at Arghandab River Valley when insurgents attacked his unit using an improvised explosive device.

Millet Meletiche joined the Army in September of 2008 and had been with his current unit since February. He had been in Afghanistan fewer than one month.
