PUEBLO, COLO. -- Many Moms struggle to get their bodies back after giving birth. For Rikki Frazier, a mom of two girls under the age of five, the problem wasn't losing the weight, it was gaining the elasticity.
"I just didn't have that. My mom got lucky and had the elasticity," Frazier said. "I never did."
Even after losing more than 60 pounds and working out five days a week, she couldn't get the lift and tightness back. Frazier saw an advertisement in a magazine for a Mommy Makeover Contest by Dr. Shinn of Adonis Aesthetics and decided to submit an essay.
"I guess it pulled the right heartstrings," she said.
In the essay, she talked about wanting to raise her daughters with confidence; confidence she had lost after her two pregnancies. Out of thousands of applicants and rounds of finalists, Frazier was notified that she was the winner. She would receive liposuction on her abdomen and a breast augmentation.
"I was just so emotional. Now, I'm just so excited," she said.
Shinn, a mother of three, said all mothers can relate to Frazier.
"Her story; she just works so hard and has two daughters. Anyone who has just had an infant, or multiple babies, knows your time isn't your own anymore," Shinn said. "Suddenly, you have little ones that are demanding all of your time."
Shinn uses a newer method of liposuction that involves bloating the skin with water, breaking the fat cells down, and then sucking out of the fat. Older methods involved scrubbing at the fat with a steel piping, bruising the skin, and creating a longer recovery time. With Shinn's method, most women are back on their feet within a week, seeing their best results after 3-6 months.
