DENVER (AP) -- Colorado Sen. Michael Bennet survived a bruising primary challenge this week. But he can't afford any disaffected Democrats as he turns his sights to what promises to be an intense race this fall against Republican Ken Buck.

So Bennet and his challenger, Andrew Romanoff, are headed to the state Capitol along with a raft of other prominent Democrats for a "unity rally." The need to soothe tensions among Colorado

Democrats has drawn even the national party chairman, Tim Kaine, to fly in for a visit to shake hands and show all is well.

Republicans had tough primary battles of their own, both for the Senate and the gubernatorial nominations. Conservatives in a Grand

Junction are planning a similar rally for the GOP next month.
