EL PASO COUNTY, COLO. -- The El Paso County Sheriff's Office reduced the cost of obtaining a concealed handgun permit Wednesday to $60 for a new five-year permit and $40 for a five-year renewal.
That's down from $100 for a new permit and $50 for a renewal.
The Colorado Bureau of Investigation's associated fee for fingerprint and background check $52.50 for a new permit and $13 for a renewal.
The office said nearly 16,000 residents currently have active permits, and the growing number prompted the reduction in price.
