ROCKY MOUNTAIN NATIONAL PARK, COLO. (AP) -- A Minnesota man struck by lightning while hiking in Rocky Mountain National Park was apparently knocked out for about 14 hours.
Thirty-one-year-old Brandon Baker of Princeton says he took shelter under a rock ledge when a storm moved in Tuesday. Baker says he remembers his hair standing up but not being struck by lightning. He says he woke up the next morning around 7:30 a.m.
It was only after Baker ran into some hikers the next day and removed his hat, that he discovered he had a big burn on his head.
The St. Cloud State University student assumed he had just hit his head on a rock.
Doctors believe the strike was an indirect hit, with lightning first hitting a rock and then his head.
