FALCON, COLO. -- Wednesday was the first day of school for Falcon District 49, and officals there are reporting a large spike in student enrollment.
They said between July 13 and August 4, they enrolled 905 new students.
Regular and volunteer staff members have been working to input all the data, trying to keep up with the numbers.
"Enrolling that many students is really overwhelming, so it literally has been all hands on deck, everyone helping anyway they can," Stephanie Meredith, D-49 Communications Specialist said.
At the end of the last school year, Meredith said the district was at 103% capactiy.
She said they will not know the exact numbers until the end of the week, but she added they have been preparing for the growth with new staff.
