COLORADO SPRINGS, COLO. -- The kids are heading back to school, a sign that summer is winding down.

But Linda DuVal from www.PikesPeakontheCheap.com says the deals are just starting to heat up.

DuVal was on FOX21 Morning News with some local bargains for kids and families.

"Why not have a last fling before saying goodbye to Summer," says DuVal. "Hitts, a miniature golf place at 3402 N. Academy Blvd., has been around for 30 years. But, somehow, they got caught in a time warp."

With three fun 18-hole mini golf courses to play, they still only charge $2 per person to play a round!

They’re open 9 a.m.-10 p.m. daily, weather permitting. Call 591-1146.

For a cool treat, DuVal says Baskin Robbins is helping you chill out with its "Beat the Heat" coupon.

Go online and print the coupon, which is a buy-one-get-one-free on their soft serve cones.

It’s valid until Sunday, Aug. 8.

And when it comes to back-to-school shopping why not think about second-hand stores.

Some places to try:
Goodwill Industries (several locations in town)
Recess, a kids' consignment store, at 1721 W. Colorado Ave.
