CENTRAL CITY, COLO. (AP) -- The Colorado National Guard says a training crew rescued a mountain climber suffering from hypothermia and a broken leg in the mountains of Gilpin County.

National Guard officials say the crew was conducting a training mission on a Black Hawk helicopter and were near the area when search and rescue personnel called for help.

Officials say they rescued 51-year-old Boulder resident Steve Lassman Wednesday evening. His family told sheriff's officials they had expected him home on Monday.

Lassman was transported to the Boulder Community hospital and was in fair condition. It's unclear how he broke his leg.
