LONGMONT, Colo. (AP) -- Canadian officials in the Northwest Territories have completed an aerial search of a 6,000-square-mile area looking for a Longmont man who was flying back to Colorado when he went missing.

Family members say 75-year-old Terry Johnson last had contact with air traffic personnel Saturday morning about 30 miles outside Norman Wells, Canada, while flying his single-engine plane.

Johnson, who founded the MiniScribe disc-drive company, was returning from a family canoeing and fishing trip.

Capt. Jeffrey Noel of the Canadian Forces told the Longmont Times-Call that rescuers are taking advantage of the 20 hours of daylight in the region this time of year to search.

He said Tuesday that the search would be extended about 600 miles from Norman Wells.
