DENVER (AP) -- With just three weeks left before Colorado's primary elections, the sleepy Democratic Senate primary is showing more life.
Democratic Sen. Michael Bennet aired his first negative ad Tuesday against challenger Andrew Romanoff. The same day, Romanoff launched an attack at the incumbent.
Romanoff argues in his ad that Bennet is too tied to what Romanoff calls "Washington special interests."
Bennet responded with an ad pointing out that Romanoff, a former Colorado House speaker, has taken contributions in the past from the kinds of donors he rails against.
The attacks are the toughest yet on the Democratic side. Bennet was in Washington Wednesday to see the financial overhaul signed into law, while Romanoff argued the law could've been tougher.
