GREELEY, COLO. -- The defense attorney for a man accused in his ex-wife's disappearance and presumed death says investigators had "tunnel vision" in the case.

The defense attorney made the statements Thursday during her opening arguments in the trial of John Sandoval.

He is charged with first-degree murder in the disappearance of Kristina Tournai Sandoval nearly 15 years ago.

The trial continues Friday.

Sandoval's ex-wife was last seen Oct. 19, 1995, after telling friends and family she was going to talk to her ex-husband about money he owed her.

Her body hasn't been found.

Authorities arrested John Sandoval last year in Las Vegas.

His defense attorney argues investigators "didn't pursue all avenues" and instead focused on Sandoval without evidence to connect him to a crime.
