EL PASO COUNTY, COLO. -- El Paso County Sheriff Terry Maketa tells FOX21 News he is writing a warrant for the arrest of Monique Lynch on charges of Child Abuse Resulting in Death.
Maketa says that warrant is expected to be signed by a judge within the next twenty-four hours.
Lynch is being investigated in the death of 9-year-old Genesis Sims, whose body was found in the crawl space of a vacant townhouse in Monument on May 14.
Lynch is the girlfriend of Genesis' father, Hanif Sims.
The sheriff's office says has not decided if an arrest warrant of the same charges will be issued for Sims.
Hanif Sims is currently facing charges of 2nd Degree Assault and Child Abuse in the case.
Both Sims and Lynch were arrested without incident Wednesday in Henderson, Nevada.
A court hearing in Nevada on July 15 will decide whether the couple will be extradited back to Colorado.
They are also wanted in New Jersey on felony drug charges.
