DENVER (AP) -- State and local agencies have weatherized nearly 3,400 homes in Colorado, triggering full access to the state's $79.5 million in stimulus funds for the work.

Gov. Bill Ritter and Department of Energy officials noted Colorado's progress in a conference call Wednesday with the media.

Annual program funds have paid for work on roughly 4,000 more homes.

Officials say the state has completed more than 30 percent of the homes it plans to weatherize over three years.

Ritter says Colorado is one of the first 13 states to reach the milestone and

receive its full funding. funds.

State officials say the work by state and local agencies and companies has created 150 jobs.

The program helps low-income families with the aim of saving energy and money.
