DENVER, COLO. -- Strong summer storms swept through the Denver area and south and east over the plains and pummeled some places with large hail.

Meteorologists say that the line of thunderstorms over the region Sunday brought some tornado warnings but no confirmed touchdowns.

Hail was reported in many areas from the foothills to the plains.

Residents in Woodland Park reported golf ball sized hail.

The strongest thunderstorms were in Elbert and Lincoln counties.

KUSA-TV reports that several cars in the Limon area were heavily damaged by tennis ball size hail.

There were also reports of flash flooding in Masonville in Larimer county and in Elizabeth in Elbert County.

Warmer and much drier weather is expected on Monday, with mostly sunny skies and highs in the middle 80s.
