TORONTO (AP) — The U.S. Geological Survey says it has reduced the magnitude of an earthquake at the Ontario-Quebec border region of Canada today.

The magnitude-5.0 quake was felt in Canada and in several U.S. states, including Michigan, Ohio, Pennsylvania, West Virginia, Vermont, New Hampshire, New Jersey and New York. There have been no reports of injuries or damage.

The agency initially said it was a 5.5 magnitude.

The tremors, which last about 30 seconds, caused evacuations in several buildings in Toronto and the Ottawa region, including the Parliament Buildings.

The Bergen County, NJ, administration building in Hackensack also was evacuated after employees reported they felt a tremor.

In Ohio, people reported the sound of plaster cracking in Cleveland and buildings in Cincinnati gently swaying.
