Charges may be filed against second driver

EL PASO COUNTY, COLO. -- Update 4:30 p.m.

Colorado State Patrol has released the names of the people involved in Friday morning's two-vehicle crash that left one woman dead.

Jennifer Moss, 44, was the driver of a vehicle attempting to turn left off of Highway 24 onto Palimino Drive at about 10 a.m. when her car was struck from behind by a van. She died at the scene.

The driver of the van that struck Moss' Nissan is identified as 47-year-old Janet Decker of Simla.

State troopers said Decker was distracted at the time of the crash. There were three children in Decker's 2003 Chevrolet Venture. Two were properly restrained and uninjured; the third child was not properly restrained and complained of minor injuried, CSP officials said.

The cause of the crash remains under investigation and charges are likely to be filed against Decker.

Update with details: Fatal vehicle crash on Hwy. 24

Colorado State Patrol has provided additional details in the Friday morning crash east of Peyton.

A silver Nissan and white van were both westbound on Highway 24. The Nissan stopped to make a left-hand turn onto Palimino Drive and was rear-ended by the white van.

The female driver of the Nissan died on scene. She was the only person in the car.

The driver of the van had three children in the car with her, and no one in the vehicle was seriously injured.

FOX21 News was told the white van never stopped and it was possible the driver may have been distracted and not seen the Nissan before hitting it.

Colorado State Patrol hopes to have Hwy. 24 open by about 1 p.m. Friday.
