DENVER (AP) — A peacock at the Denver Zoo is under observation after it injured a 3-year-old boy having lunch with other day care students. James Hartley says he got a call Thursday from the day care saying his son had been attacked by a peacock and was being taken to the hospital. The boy received stitches on his nose and forehead. It wasn't clear if he was bitten or scratched. The zoo confirmed the boy was injured by one of 10 peacocks that roam the grounds. Zoo officials will determine if the peacocks shouldn't be allowed to wander freely any more or if the attack was an isolated incident. Hartley says witnesses told him the peacock seemed to be interested in cheese his son had. (Copyright 2010 The Associated Press. All Rights Reserved.)
