AIR FORCE ACADEMY, Colo. (AP) — Firefighters from Colorado and elsewhere are expected to compete in the "Rumble in the Rockies" contest at the Air Force Academy this weekend.

The event Saturday and Sunday is one of a series called the Firefighter Combat Challenge. Vail is scheduled to hold a competition in August.

Firefighters compete in five events designed to test their fitness and agility. They wear full gear including breathing equipment.

A scaled-down version called the Kids' Firefighter Combat Challenge is designed to let children ages 4-12 see what it's like to be a firefighter.

The Air Force Academy events are open to the public. Competitions begin at 10 a.m. each day.
