NORWOOD, Colo. (AP) — A wildfire possibly started by lightning has burned about 30 acres in a remote part of western Colorado.
Fire managers say the fire is about nine miles south of Norwood and three miles northeast of Miramonte Reservoir. It's burning in oak brush, juniper and pinon and ponderosa pines on national forest land.
Fifteen firefighters and three engines are on hand. No structures are threatened, and officials say it's being managed to help improve wildlife and range habitat by burning dense vegetation.
It's believed a lightning strike from a storm Saturday sparked the fire.
After recent rains, parts of western Colorado are under fire advisories because of hot, dry weather.
