LITTLETON, Colo. (AP) — Littleton police are looking for a gunman they say knocked on a man's apartment door and fatally shot him when he opened.

Police say officers found the victim near the door of his home at the Parkland Square Apartments after the shooting at 1:08 a.m. Tuesday. Police say witnesses told officers they saw man in a hooded sweat shirt go to the victim's apartment and knock until he answered and then fired several shots.

Lt. Sean P. Dugan says witnesses told officers the gunman pointed his weapon at several people as he left the apartment complex and into a dark-colored vehicle described as a Pontiac Grand Am or Honda Prelude.

Police have not diclosed a motive for the shooting.

The victim's name is not being released until his relatives are notified.
