Salazar hopeful Gulf coast can be restored
DENVER (AP) -- Interior Secretary Ken Salazar says he is hopeful the massive oil spill in the Gulf of Mexico will be cleaned up and that the coast will be restored to a condition better than it was before the disaster.
Salazar made the remarks Saturday to students graduating from the Denver School of Science and Technology.
The school was a finalist in a contest to have President Barack Obama deliver the commencement speech. When it lost its bid, the White House promised to send an administration official instead.
The school says all of its graduates have been accepted to four-year colleges.
Salazar told the students he believes the country's best days lie ahead and that the students' success can serve as an example for the rest of the country.
