Colorado Attorney General John Suthers
DENVER (AP) -- Colorado's attorney general says he doesn't remember signing off on the transfer of an inmate who went on to kill four people.
Republican Attorney General John Suthers says he wasn't fully briefed before approving the transfer of Scott Kimball, who was released in 2002 to become an FBI informant. Suthers says he might have signed the documents as part of administrative work brought to him by deputy attorneys.
Between 2003 and 2004, Kimball killed three women and his uncle.
Kimball is serving a 70-year sentence.
The Denver Post reported Sunday that Suthers' approval of Kimball's transfer from Alaska preceded the slayings. Suthers says he doesn't recall working on the transfer. He blamed the FBI for "tragic miscalculations" that led to Kimball's release.
