DENVER (AP) -- A man extradited from Mexico to face charges in his wife's death in Colorado has been sentenced to the maximum of 60 years in prison.

Thirty-seven-year-old Hilario Martinez-Fabela pleaded guilty in November to second-degree murder and second-degree kidnapping. He was sentenced Friday in Denver.

Prosecutors say he beat his 32-year-old wife, Araseli Martinez-Fabela, to death on June 15, 2007, then fled to Mexico with their daughter, who was 7 at the time. The girl was returned to family in Denver two weeks later.

Hilario Martinez-Fabela was arrested in Mexico in December 2007 on a Denver arrest warrant, and the U.S. Marshals Service returned him to Denver a year later.
