COMMERCE CITY, Colo. (AP) -- An arson arrest has been made in a barn fire that killed 12 horses, several chickens and a goat in Adams County.

Commerce City police arrested 36-year-old Narciso Amaya-Bustillos Saturday. The barn was engulfed in flames May 9, but several animals escaped.

Adams County District Attorney Don Quick says Amaya-Bustillos had argued with the stable's owners earlier in the day, before the fire started, and was seen fleeing the blaze.

Amaya-Bustillos is being held on charges of first-degree arson, criminal mischief and 13 counts of aggravated cruelty to animals.

He is due in court Wednesday.
