MANITOU SPRINGS, Colo. (AP) -- Downed power lines are being blamed for a rash of brush fires in Manitou Springs.

More than a half-dozen fires Monday broke out near Barr Trail. Smoke from the blaze caused the cog railway at Pikes Peak to briefly shut down.

The fires were under control by mid-afternoon and didn't threaten any structures.

A downed power line was the cause of an even bigger fire southwestern Colorado, where some 3,200 acres have burned across San Miguel Canyon. Wind advisories have been issued across Colorado, with gusts hitting 60 mph.
