DENVER (AP) -- The Air Force says no advance testing was done on a specific make of military GPS receiver that later had problems picking up satellite signals after a change in ground-control software.
The Air Force said Monday tests were run on other equipment, but none of it contained the receiver that was unable to lock on to Global Positioning System satellites after the change.
A spokesman says the testers didn't have any copies of the affected receiver. He says the Air Force is now acquiring a more representative sample of the thousands of receiver applications in use.
The problem occurred in January. Officials wouldn't say how many systems were affected.
The Air Force says the problem has been fixed.
