DENVER (AP) -- Colorado was the first state to tap into a pot of federal stimulus money for affordable housing.

Now the Denver Garden Apartments are ready for occupancy.

The apartments will be available for low-income seniors.

Colorado used $14 million from the Tax Credit Assistance Program to renovate the apartments. Officials say Colorado was the first to use the fund.

Democratic Rep. Ed Perlmutter visits the apartments Monday along with a regional director for the federal Housing and Urban Development agency.
