COLORADO SPRINGS, COLO. -- Colorado Springs Police Department arrested Wendy Sanchez, 31, early Thursday morning after a patrol officer spotted a vehicle matching the description of one stolen earlier in the day.
The incident happened in the 800 block of Motor City Drive.
The driver, Sanchez, saw the CSPD officer and attempted to elude his cruiser, driving away.
As the officer followed the stolen car, the female driver abandoned the vehicle, jumped over a fence and ran onto Interstate 25.
Police in the area set up containment along Fountain Creek and called a police canine unit to the scene. They found the suspect hiding along the creek and took her into custody.
Sanchez was charged with motor vehicle theft; she also had five outstanding misdemeanor warrants in her name.
