AURORA, Colo. (AP) -- A black professor at the University of Colorado dental school has accused the school of discrimination, saying he was paid less than whites.

Dr. Morris Clark also alleges in a 63-page notice to the university that he was subjected to racial jokes over his 29-year career. The notice sets the stage for a lawsuit.

The dental school's dean tells The Denver Post that the allegations are being taken "very seriously" and that an investigation is under way. She didn't specifically address Clark's allegations.

CU spokeswoman Jacque Montgomery said Clark has never before filed a complaint.

Clark is director of anesthesia in the surgical dentistry department.
