COLORADO SPRINGS, COLO. -- Wednesday was a somber day at Fort Carson, as the Mountain Post remembered two of their own killed in combat.
The soldiers honored included Sgt. Sean M. Durkin and Sgt. Michael K. Ingram Jr.
Those who knew the men said they will be greatly missed.
"I know Sgt. Sean Durkin the best. He was a quiet guy, but he was just good at his job. As for Sgt. Ingram everybody like him," Capt. Brett Kelley said.
Kelley said both Durkin and Ingram were nearing the end of their deployment. He said they were both killed by improvised explosive devices that detonated while they were on patrol in Afghanistan.
"It has been 11 really long hard months, especially because we are down south where the surge is about to happen with intense fighting, so to not be able to bring back two guys is tough," Kelley said.
Kelley said it is important for the American people to remember Durkin and Ingram as heroes who died fighting for their country. He said if people do that the two men will live on forever.
